Week 34

Work

Got a couple of PRs in, and ended the week on a high by resolving an issue that was generating two bugs in prod. It was a backend problem and the fix was simple (some object properties were nested a layer deeper than expected), but very satisfying to track down and eliminate under time pressure.

I also started getting really interested in design system stuff as we gear up towards migrating the B2B site to the component library. Lots of thoughts bubbling away around that.

Food

I've not been super food-focused this week, but there are a couple of things I want to take note of.

Potato rostis

There were some old tatties lying about so I grated them, squeezed out the water and fried them with salt and pepper. Stuck a bunch of fried eggs on top. It wis rerr.

Salmon noodles

We had some salmon fillets in the fridge that were about to go past their use-by and I needed to put something together fast and with limited ingredients.

Lucky for me I found this recipe which is very quick and easy and really only needs store cupboard stuff.

It's not a meal I'd plan to make, but a great thing to be able to rustle up in 20 mins.

Could've used some veg. Pak choi in with the noodles would be ideal.

Poke Bowl

OK this the was the main event for me this week.

Poke bowl with boiled egg, salmon, lime wedge and varity of vegetables. A jar of Peanut Rayu stands on the table above it.

I also made a sauce that I completely messed up the quantities for, but it worked out fine.

Leisure

Gaming

Got my new Anbernic RG35XX delivered much earlier than expected. No regrets. I'm keeping the stock OS on there for now and poking about in all the thousands of crappy games it comes with.

I'll get it set up with Garlic OS at some point and see what the deal with Pico-8 is. I'm gearing up to get back on the game programming, though I have basically no expectations of myself in that regard.

Knitting

Started knitting bro. Very, very frustrating to get going with.

TTRPG

We haven't actually PLAYED any more, and I've been saying to K, I want to try being into playing RPGs instead of just being into the idea of playing RPGs. But we were talking a lot about it at the zoo yesterday and we got fired up thinking about how we could do a zombie game set in the zoo and use the map (like JP Coovert does in a recent video).

I'm not sure if we can run a zombie game in a way that's suitable for a 10 year old, but it doesn't seem outside the realms of possibility.

OK that's plenty long enough for a post.
