Week 4 2024

Good things

Personal

Significant progress in migrating my minicomic subdomain into my blog subdomain - the grand unification project is — for better or for worse — underway at last.

This spun off into a whole personal site improvement jag, which had some hairy moments as I dismantled my rickety grid-based layouts in an effort to refactor them. I got it all back on track, so I can laugh about it now, but there were some moments of despair.

I made a decent tofu dish. I mean, I wasn't really into the sauce, but I enjoyed the consistency of the baked tofu itself. I'll use the same approach the next time I do crispy tofu. Accompanied by corn ribs, another first for me.

We had our first Tiny Dungeon session with K as GM. It's a learning curve for us all, but the ball is now, officially rolling.

My second park run, in which I didn't even stop running until the BIG hill at the end of the second lap. I feel like my time should have improved more than the 2 minutes or so it did, but I'm assured it's good progress.

Pottery session #2 went well and I made bowls for the first time — lots of firsts this week! Activities that take me out of myself, I've realised, are what I need.

I ate fairly well, although I could do better. But it's January for Christ's sake, and although I gorged myself on Haggis, neeps and tatties, whisky sauce and cranachan on Burn's Night I did not consume any alcohol except what was incidentally part of the food.

Oh yeah, we had a nice meal out with C's parents where I ate meatballs AND a spicy pizza 😅 — no booze though 🙌

I watched the recent Dune adaptation and really enjoyed it, which I wasn't particularly expecting to. Not that I had any reason to think it would be bad, I'm just used to finding everything a bit crap for one reason or another.

Lots of good things!

Work

It was a busy week at work; lots of unrelated pieces being thrust my way from different directions.

Maybe theres's more to celebrate, but that's probably enough for now.
