I don't have a lot to say about most of week 21. I've quite a few frustrations with the way work is unfolding, but they're minor gripes in the big scheme of things. The current so-called-sprint is a technical spike that I'm mostly just observing and contributing to as an SME for the product, so there are no feature delivery deadlines. It's also just a week long, and I've been on leave for a couple of those days, so there's nothing substantive to be impacted by for better or for worse.
Gigha camping
The main event of the week has been taking the van away for our traditional 3-family camping trip. It is a recent tradition — only five years — but it is a tradition nonetheless. This year the destination was the Isle of Gigha off the Mull of Kintyre, and I'm pleased to report that it was declared an all-round success.
- all families arrived safe and unstressed
- camp was established without incident
- my pre-prepped veggie crack salad with fried halloumi was warmly received
- firepit marshmallow toasting occurred
- generous quantities of cocktails, with no-one suffering excessive hangovers the next day
- a walk to the highest point on the island
- enough sun for me to get sunburnt
- not too much in the way of rain or midges
- probably the best meal-out experience we've had on one of these trips
- everyone packed up and ready to go on the monday morning, again, without stress
- the kids were all as good as you can reasonably expect 6 kids to be on a camping trip
