It's another late, late post that just about keeps my schedule. I'm talking about last week right now, and I wasn't very conscientious about keeping notes. Here's the Good Stuff list from my phone:
Completed Metroid Fusion
Yes, I save-scummed it mercilessly.
Yes, I applied actual cheats to get infinite health and missiles.
I don't care. I started playing this game in 2002 and now I've seen the end. I got as far as the Nightmare boss without applying cheats and I can honestly say this I couldn't have got further without them.
DS on RG35XX
I don't know why I've avoided trying DS games on my handhelds. I vaguely assumed they'd be unplayable without the two screens and stylus. Well, I've gotten over that now and I'm playing Pokemon Heart Gold with minimal frustration.
I'm not sure I'm hella into the game TBH. I don't care for the quasi-3D (or maybe quasi-2D?!) look of the thing. Makes me yearn for OG Pokemon on the GBC.
But anyway, it opens up some new options for the future. Apparently there are even ROM hacks of some games that remove stylus-based mechanisms.
TTRPG
I'm back on this jag again, gearing up to play Mausritter with CK, TQ and the kids. I even sprang for The Estate boxed set and am excited to use that for a whole campaign (assuming it holds people's interest).
I also got "So you want to be a Game Master" by Justin Alexander delivered. I've had my eye on this since it was released and it's just come down enough in price that I felt I could pull the trigger.
This is a cool article about the significance of numbers in dungeon design.
Swimming
I needed to get the kids out of the house all day, so I took them to the Dollan baths in East Kilbride. It was good to go somewhere different for a change, and a nice easy journey on the train.
The diving dales are gone, unfortunately, the flumes don't work (and probably never will again) and it was pricey by comparison with Eastwood (over £12), but it was quiet, spacious changing rooms and generally a nice experience.
Afterwards we went to a Weatherspoons in the shopping centre for lunch, which was not the greatest experience of my life, but the kids got food they liked and I was able to get a steak and salad, so keto was maintained.
Keto
I've dumped all the holiday weight and get myself down to 13st, which was my objective. Actually, my objective is to get a bit underweight just so I can properly calibrate and then come off keto and allow some to come back on.
I can't remember any significant meals or insights from this week.
Other stuff
My notes say "Work" and "Town with K" but I can't be bothered dredging up any more specific points than that.
TBH I was feeling pretty stressed in week 30. I was in serious alone-time deficit after interrailing through 4 countries with the family and then just putting up with kids during unstructured school holidays.
Week 31 is when it all pays off...
